Income-tax Act, 2025 Notified In Official Gazette After Presidential Assent; To Replace 1961 Law From April 1, 2026

Pranav B Prem The Ministry of Law and Justice on August 22 published the Income Tax Act, 2025, in the Official Gazette after it received the President's assent on 21st of this month [Thursday]. The Act consolidates and amends the law relating to income tax, repealing and replacing the Income-tax Act, 1961. It will come into force on April 1, 2026, as notified in the Gazette. The Act was passed by the Parliament in the current monsoon session.
